Current research interest are screening pathways for NAFLD in high risk group patients in primary care and metabolic profile of patients with NAFLD (metabolomics and gut microbiome). Other research interests in the field of NAFLD are application of artificial intelligence to diagnosis (automated quantitation of steatosis, inflammation, ballooning and fibrosis in images of liver biopsies), lifestyle management, CV risk assessment and non-invasive markers in NAFLD. Roberta is involved in the coordination the European NAFLB Registry - registry of patients with NAFLD and Hepatitis B which currently includes more than 20 European centers. Moreover, she has been sub-investigator for several phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials for NAFLD and HBV currently running at Imperial college NHS Trust.
