BIO
Summary
I'm a bioinformatician specialised in the analysis of genomes and the reconstruction of their phylogenetic relationships.
My main research focuses on the analysis of whole-genome mycobacterial sequencing data collected by the UKHSA since 2017 in order to understand tuberculosis (TB) transmission in the UK. Our aim is to determine which public interventions against TB transmission should be prioritised. This project is part of a the NIHR HPRU mycobacteria, developed in close partnership with the UKHSA TB Unit. To this end, I have developed several bioinformatic tools in collaboration with John Lees and Leonid Chindelevitch.
Additionally, I collaborate on several genomic projects involving other respiratory pathogens (e.g., COVID-19, RSV).
I am a biology teacher by training and obtained my PhD in /bioinformatics at the Université Paris 6, studying the early divergence of animal phyla. I then focused my research on the genome evolution and phylogenetic relationships of protists through several postdoctoral positions, including a five year position at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG; Spain), and joined Imperial in 2022.
