BIO
Rapolas is a Visiting Researcher within the Audio Experience Design team, led by Prof. Lorenzo Picinali. He is also a Research Fellow in Immersive Audio at the Institute of Sound Recording, Department of Music & Media, University of Surrey.
He has recently defended his PhD thesis, which assessed perceptual differences of HRTFs, evaluated the relevance of binaural spatial audio personalisation in various extended reality scenarios, and addressed existing challenges with data-driven spatial audio personalisation algorithms. Rapolas's work has included collaborations with members of the EU-funded SONICOM Project, which aims to improve immersive audio experiences for extended reality applications. As part of the project, he helped organise the inaugural Listener Acoustic Personalisation (LAP) Challenge, which acted as a platform to benchmark the state of the art in HRTF personalisation research.
