Dr Rachael Barry is an Associate Professor and UKRI Future Leader Fellow in the Nutrition Section within the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction.
Her research focuses on targeting specialist cutting enzymes called hydrolases that are active in an inflamed and cancerous gut for the management, treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal diseases.

In 2020 Rachael started her independent research group as an Imperial College Research Fellow. She combined her expertise in cancer biology, gastrointestinal diseases and hydrolases to develop her research niche studying 'Active hydrolytic enzymes: drivers of colorectal cancer development and potential biomarkers for early detection'.
