BIO

I am a practising geotechnical engineer specialising in computational geomechanics. I am driven to bridge the gap between research and industry practice in a wide range of practical geotechnical applications. This includes the practical use of soil constitutive models to advance geotechnical design and predictions, as well as actionable quantification of uncertainties in tools used throughout the geotechnical project lifecycle.

I am actively recruiting PhD students keen on bridging research with practice, particularly in numerical analyses, computational geomechanics tool development and uncertainty quantification. Please get in touch if you are interested in an informal discussion to start with.

My own PhD research focused on the modelling of offshore foundations subject to long-term cyclic loads using finite element analyses. I have released models for practical use, and I continue to work on integrating these methods into holistic geotechnical design processes accounting for the soil-structure response throughout the foundation design life.

I have a keen interest in quantifying the reliability of geotechnical predictions from a Bayesian perspective, particularly in the incorporation and understanding of uncertainties throughout the geotechnical project lifecycle, from site characterisation, feasibility studies, design to construction.
