BIO

Pippa is a chemical engineer and doctoral researcher in the Sustainable Infrastructure Materials group. Her doctoral research investigates the decarbonisation potential of cement through Portland clinker substitution. This work involves:

  • developing process-based, flexible inventory data for clinker substitutes,
  • examining the role of clinker production and clinker chemistry in hydration and strength performance, and
  • developing methods to handle and improve the transparency of pre-aggregated inventory data (e.g., EPDs) in new process-based LCA calculations.

Pippa's research uses industrial ecology and process modelling tools, such as ASPEN, ActivityBrowser, and databases such as ecoinvent. Her work is supported through the Marie-Curie HORIZON project DETOCS (Data Enabling Transformation of Concrete Systems).
