BIO

Paul Middleton is a Chain-Florey Clinical Fellow and gastroenterology registrar working within the Institute of Clinical Sciences. His research interests include immunometabolism, innate immunity and mitochondrial research. He is active in clinical research and has served as sub-investigator for several randomised controlled trials and observational studies.

He graduated with an MBChB Hons from the University of Dundee in 2014. He subsequently undertook an academic foundation programme placement in Hepatology at Kings College Hospital. Upon completed core medical training he accepted an NIHR Clinical Research Fellow post in Hepatology at Imperial College Hospital followed by a Chain Florey clinical fellow post within the Institute of Clinical Sciences/ MRC Laboratory of Medical Sciences in 2020. He completed his PhD exploring the role of mitochondria in alcoholic hepatitis associated immune dysfunction in 2024.
