BIO

Evi is an Advanced Research Fellow at the Public Health Policy Evaluation Unit, School of Public Health. She has a background in nutrition and public health and her research focuses on food systems and food policy, with a specific interest in food system sustainability and systems thinking methods.

Evi leads a 5-year MRC Career Development Award, which focuses on the complex interconnections between environmental change and the double burden of malnutrition, globally and more specifically in Peru. It aims to identify opportunities for triple-duty actions that concurrently target environmental change, overnutrition, and undernutrition. Evi employs a wide range of methods, including quantitative, quasi-experimental, and complex systems approaches, especially system dynamics, to explore these research questions.

Evi is also working closely with the NIHR Global Health Research Centre for Non-Communicable Diseases and Environmental Change, a multi-institutional collaboration that aims to generate actionable evidence to combat the dual challenges of global environmental change and non-communicable disease in India, Indonesia, and Bangladesh. She is supporting the co-development of multi-sectoral interventions that have dual health and environmental benefits.

Previously, Evi worked in a BBSRC-funded project that used community engagement and system dynamics modelling to explore food system drivers of the double burden of malnutrition in Peru. She completed her PhD at the School of Public Health at Imperial College London, for which she employed modelling approaches to investigate the potential impacts of post-Brexit trade and agricultural policy on diet and health outcomes and inequalities in England.
