I am an infectious disease epidemiologist and modeller based in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College London, where I hold the position of Principal Investigator and Advanced Research Fellow.

 

🦟 My research develops computational and statistical frameworks that connect mechanistic models of malaria transmission with real-world public health data to inform policy. This spans the core biology of malaria through to the evaluation and optimisation of interventions. I combine mechanistic transmission modelling, Bayesian inference, health economics and machine learning to address questions around intervention prioritisation, resource allocation and vaccine impact. I lead the development of the malariaverse, an open-source ecosystem of malaria modelling tools used by researchers and programmes in the UK and across sub-Saharan Africa.

 

🌍 My work has directly informed malaria policy at national and global levels. As PI on a Gates Foundation programme, I lead a team providing sustained modelling support to national malaria control and elimination programmes in sub-Saharan Africa, helping to guide strategic planning and intervention deployment. At the global level, modelling from my group contributed to the evidence base underpinning WHO recommendations for the R21 malaria vaccine, and I have led work on cost-effectiveness prioritisation of malaria interventions and impact projections for major funding programmes such as the Global Fund, Gavi and the President’s Malaria Initiative.

 

📃 I have published widely and my work reaches beyond academic audiences through policy engagement, media coverage and public communication. I am committed to open science and capacity strengthening, maintaining open-access modelling tools and delivering training to researchers, students and public health professionals in malaria-endemic settings and the UK.

🏫 I teach and supervise across postgraduate programmes at Imperial, with a focus on quantitative epidemiology and infectious disease modelling. I supervise PhD students and contribute to institutional governance within the department.
