BIO

Paolo Muraro, MD, PhD, FRCP is a Professor of Neurology, Neuroimmunology and Immunotherapy at Imperial College London; and a Honorary Consultant Neurologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust since 2006. He has a Doctorate in Neuroscience and had his clinical and postdoctoral training in Neurology and Neuroimmunology in Italy and at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, NIH, USA.

At Imperial, Professor Muraro is a senior clinical academic in the Division of Brain Sciences, Department of Medicine where he heads a Neuroimmunology Group within the Division of Clinical Neurology. A special focus of his research is autologous haematopoietic stem cell transplantation for treatment of multiple sclerosis, a topic in which he is internationally recognized as a a leading expert, as exemplified by his articles published in Science, Nature Reviews Neurology and several other top-ranked scientific journals.

He serves in several academic, scientific and clinical roles in the UK and internationally, including scientific advisory panels for the ERC, the MRC, the NIHR, the Wellcome Trust, the Association of British Neurologists and other professional and research organisations as well as patient associations in Europe, North America and Australia.
