BIO

Przemek is a Research Associate at Dr Livia Cupertino-Malheiros' group, working on the advanced alloy characterisation for hydrogen applications. In his project, he is investigating the segregation of hydrogen to grain boundaries in steels and its relationship to hydrogen embrittlement.

His background is in materials science, beginning with an MEng at Queen Mary and an early role at UKAEA, where he supported fusion research by improving methods for nanoindentation of soft metals. In 2024, he completed a DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Prof Michael Moody, Dr Paul Bagot, and Prof Jon Hyde. He investigated solute clustering and grain boundary segregation in nuclear-grade steels, examining how these phenomena are affected by temperature or neutron radiation, using atom probe tomography (APT) and other advanced characterisation techniques, such as EBSD or TKD.
