DrPatrick Kierkegaard

Dr Patrick Kierkegaard is a socio-technical health services researcher and implementation scientist at Imperial College London and The Institute of Cancer Research. He leads the Cancer Technology Catalyst, which advances the integration of medical technologies into routine oncology practice.

His research applies qualitative and mixed-methods approaches to examine how technology-enabled interventions are developed, evaluated, and governed within complex cancer pathways. He focuses particularly on diagnostics adoption, therapy monitoring, and the organisation of long-term care, with attention to systemic vulnerabilities and socio-technical dynamics.

His work is supported by Cancer Research UK, UK Research and Innovation, the Wellcome Trust, and the National Institute for Health and Care Research. He holds a PhD in Health Informatics from the University of Copenhagen, a Master of Public Health from Imperial College London, and an MSc in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Bath. Prior appointments include postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Michigan and a DAF-Fulbright Visiting Fellowship at Weill Cornell Medicine.
