BIO

Dr. Pedro Castro Rodrigues, MD, PhD, is a psychiatrist and Clinical Research Fellow in Psychopharmacology at the Centre for Psychedelic Research, Department of Brain Sciences, Imperial College London. He has over 15 years of clinical experience across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency psychiatry, with a strong focus on treatment-resistant depression and the integration of psychotherapy with novel pharmacological approaches.
Dr. Rodrigues completed his doctoral studies at NOVA Medical School, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, while conducting his research at Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown (Lisbon). In 2018, he was awarded a Fulbright Research Grant to carry out part of his PhD project at Columbia University (New York) and the New York State Psychiatric Institute.
His research bridges psychiatry and neuroscience, with expertise in computational models of brain function, neuroimaging and psychometric instruments. He has contributed to advancing theoretical models of psychedelic drug action and investigating the therapeutic mechanisms of ketamine and psilocybin.
Dr. Rodrigues previously coordinated a pioneering programme combining ketamine with psychotherapy in a large public hospital in Lisbon (Hospital Julio de Matos) and served as Assistant Professor of Mental Health at NOVA Medical School. He has published in leading journals including Nature Human Behaviour and Nature Mental Health, and remains actively engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations to develop evidence-based treatments for mood and substance use disorders.
