BIO

Dr Oliver Robinson is a Senior Lecturer in Molecular Epidemiology at the MRC Centre for Environment and Health and the Ageing Epidemiology (AGE) Research Unit at the School of Public Health, Imperial College London. He rejoined Imperial College in 2016 after completing a post-doctoral position at the Centre for Research in Environmental Epidemiology (CREAL), Barcelona, where he was scientific coordinator of the European FP7 HELIX project (www.projecthelix.eu). He was awarded a PhD in Biomedical Research in 2013 by Imperial College for his work investigating the combined role of plant contaminants and the pesticide DDT in an outbreak of severe liver disease in rural Ethiopia.

His research interests lie in the field of molecular and environmental epidemiology, biological ageing and health inequalities. He is interested in investigating the joint effects of multiple factors using multi-disciplinary and biomarkers approaches. As a Future Leaders Fellow, funded by UK Research and Innovation, he is developing novel biomarkers of development and ageing across multiple populations, using omic technologies. The work may shed light on common pathological mechanisms underlying multiple non-communicable diseases. As co-investigator on the Gates Ventures funded Chariot Pro Longitudinal Study, he is in investigating risk factors and prognostic markers of cognitive ageing and dementia risk. He is co-investigator of the Horizon project ENDOMIX (https://endomix.eu/) which investigates immune mediated effects of environmental chemicals. He has previously been involved in EU funded projects including STOP (Science and Technology in Child Obesity Policy, http://www.stopchildobesity.eu), Lifepath (https://www.lifepathproject.eu/) and Exposomics.
