Omar graduated from the University of Oxford and Barts and The London with distinction and undertook initial surgical training in Oxford and London. During his time at Oxford he worked at the renowned Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences (NDORMS) looking at outcomes in unicompartmental knee arthroplasty and investigating tissue engineered biodegradeable scaffolds. He has won over 20 undergraduate, postgraduate and national prizes (including the university prizes in surgery and msk). He has published in a range of themes and has presented his research at the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons(AAOS) annual conferences. A former Harvard Fulbright Scholar, he has also published over 40 peer-reviewed publications and was awarded a PhD from Imperial College London with thesis titled Data-Driven and Artificial Intelligence-Enabled Optimisation of the Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis- Arthroplasty Care Pathway.
Outside of clinical academia, he enjoys competitive sports(running, cycling and swimming), reading and is a certified scuba diver.
