RESEARCH

TEM in-situ fracture testing
We have developed a setup capable of growing stable cracks within a TEM. We use it to understand how crack propagate in brittle materials at the nanoscale, including ceramic materials (such as SiC or Zirconia) and interfaces in composites.

SEM in-situ fracture testing
We have developed a wide range of micromechanical testing setups that allow us to mechanically test materials inside an SEM. We use this approach to study the micromechanical properties of Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs), nanolayered ceramics (MAX phases, graphite) or grain boundaries.
