BIO

Ozum is an Assistant Professor of Creativity and Innovation at Imperial College London. Prior to this position, she earned her PhD in Organizational Behavior from University College London and has been awarded the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship to join Imperial as a research fellow.

Her research sits at the intersection of creativity, the future of work, and emerging technologies. Utilizing qualitative methods, she conducts research at organizations striving to push the frontiers of creativity and innovation, including makerspaces, world-leading design studios, and big technology companies. She explores how and why creative work and the experiences of creative workers change with new technologies and work practices.

She holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in industrial design from Middle East Technical University (METU). Before embarking her journey in organizational research, she engaged actively in the design field, contributing as a designer, researcher, and instructor. During her doctoral studies, Ozum worked as a PhD researcher at Microsoft Research, Future of Work team exploring the dynamics of remote and hybrid work meetings. This multidisciplinary background influences both her research and teaching. Ozum has substantial experience teaching design thinking and team creativity at the undergraduate, postgraduate, and executive levels.
