BIO

Oscar's research is focused on the development of 3D Ultrasound Computed Tomography, primarily for Neuroimaging. This involves the translation of Full-Waveform Inversion from seismic imaging to ultrasound, the use of High-Performance Computing facilities, and the development of techniques for imaging/modelling the skull.

Oscar's doctoral research resulted in the development of Stochastic Variational Tomography (SVT), a Bayesian method for image reconstruction, which has the potential for reference-free image quality analysis via reconstruction uncertainty. Oscar was a 2022 recipient of the EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellowship to develop a quantitiative connection between SVT and existing full-reference image quality metrics. During this time he collaborated on an EIC Pathfinder award, a key outcome of which was to apply SVT to Ultrasound Computed Tomography for Breast imaging. Oscar now works as a Research Associate on an EPSRC Future Health award to develop Full-Waveform Inversion for Neuroimaging, with contributions to the Stride, a library for high-resolution 3D Ultrasound Computed Tomography, and leading several successful High-Performance Computing awards to apply Stride to large, ultrasound datasets.
