DrNeil Graham

Dr Neil Graham is a Consultant Neurologist and Clinical Lecturer specialising in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), concussion, and dementia. He holds a joint appointment at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square), St Mary’s Hospital, and Imperial College London.  

Dr Graham leads a translational research programme in digital health and founded the Applied Health Intelligence Lab to develop conversational clinical AI for patients with neurological disorders. His research leverages these novel technologies, alongside neuroimaging and fluid biomarkers, to improve the diagnosis and prognosis of acquired brain injuries. He was awarded a PhD from Imperial in 2021 for his work investigating predictive technologies for the long-term sequelae of neurotrauma, including neurodegenerative dementia.  

Dr Graham is a recognised authority on the neurological problems following repetitive head impacts in contact sports and military service, including sports concussion and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). His work has been featured in major news media including The Economist, Wired, and BBC Radio 4, and he has published extensively in leading journals such as Science Translational Medicine, the BMJ and Brain.  

Clinically, he has specific expertise in the assessment and management of complex post-traumatic outcomes, ranging from acute concussion to long-term cognitive impairment. His research programme is supported by NIHR and Alzheimer's Society (previously by Alzheimer's Research UK, Imperial Health Charity, Academy of Medical Sciences).
