Dr. Niamh Nowlan’s research is in the biomechanics of fetal movements, with particular focus on the role of fetal movements in normal skeletal development, and the importance of fetal movements as a measure for fetal health. Dr Nowlan was a member of academic staff in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London from 2011 to 2020. In 2021, she moved to University College Dublin in Ireland as Professor of Biomedical Engineering in the UCD School of Mechanical and Materials Engineering. Dr Nowlan continues as a Visiting Reader in the Department, where members of her group also continue to be based.
