RESEARCH

Dr Namrata Malhotra's research lies at the intersection of organization theory and strategy, with a particular focus on organizational and institutional change in professional service organisations. She examines the micro-processes through which change unfolds and mechanisms that enhance the likelihood of success.  Dr Malhotra has studied radical change processes in elite global law firms and how they continue to balance their professional, corporate and family logics, in response to societal shifts, including innovative adaptations to traditional career paths. Her earlier work examined internationalization strategies of engineering consulting firms.

Dr Malhotra has published in leading management journals including Administrative Science Quarterly, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Studies, Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Perspectives among others. Her work has also appeared in prestigious volumes such as The SAGE Handbook of Organizational Institutionalism and The Oxford Handbook of Professional Service Firms, as well as several articles in Research in the Sociology of Organizations series.

Currently, Dr Malhotra is involved in a project on the British nuclear clean-up industry, investigating how core stigma associated with nuclear activities shapes the trajectory of change highlighting the fragility of public–private partnerships in high risk contexts. She has also recently contributed to a medical research project based at Imperial’s Institute of Global Health Innovation, piloting an AI algorithm for mammography screening.
