MrMonil Karia

Monil is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, specialising in lower-limb arthroplasty. He completed his specialist training on the North West Thames rotation before undertaking a lower-limb arthroplasty fellowship at North Shore Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. He is also an Honorary Clinical Research Fellow within the MSk Lab at Imperial College London.

Monil graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2014, receiving distinctions in Medical Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Clinical Practice. He also completed an intercalated BSc in Surgery and Anaesthesia, graduating with first-class honours, before securing a place on the Academic Foundation Programme.

He was subsequently awarded an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, during which he obtained Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons. A Dean’s Master’s Scholarship at Imperial enabled him to complete an MSc in Health Policy with Merit. His dissertation evaluated the clinical outcomes and cost-effectiveness of short-stem hip replacements. He was awarded the FRCS (Tr & Orth) in 2024.

Monil is completing a PhD at Imperial College London under the supervision of Professor Justin Cobb, working with the MSk Lab and the Biomechanics Research Group. His research evaluates surgical techniques and technologies that seek to maximise implant stability while minimising fracture risk in hip arthroplasty.
