BIO

Miguel Martínez-Pañeda is a Researcher and Principal Structural Engineer with extensive experience in both cutting-edge research and the delivery of architecturally ambitious, complex engineering projects. His work combines academic excellence with professional practice, enabling him to bridge the gap between research innovation and real-world implementation.

Miguel has received several prestigious awards throughout his career, including the 2025 Royal Academy of Engineering Young Engineer Award and the 2020 IStructE Young Structural Engineering Professional Award. He holds an MSc with Distinction in Advanced Structural Engineering from Imperial College London and is also an ARB-registered architect, providing him with a unique combination of engineering and architectural expertise.

His professional and research interests focus on the design and construction of tall buildings, structural dynamics, and engineering under seismic and other extreme loading conditions. By integrating rigorous technical knowledge with a strong understanding of architecture and design, he works closely with ambitious clients, architects and multidisciplinary teams to maximise project outcomes and unlock innovative design opportunities.

Miguel's creative approach is underpinned by a strong technical foundation, enabling him to push the boundaries of structural design while maintaining efficiency, resilience and constructability.
