BIO
Maxwell Munford is a PhD student in the Biomechanics Research Group, in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. Max joined the group in October 2018, supervised by Dr. Jonathan Jeffers and Dr. Richard Van Arkel.
Max's research interests are in the use of additively manufactured or 3D printed metal in bone implants and orthopaedic devices.
Before starting his PhD, Max obtained a first class MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London in 2018. His master's thesis provided novel research on the use of stereoscopic near-infrared fluorescence imaging for 3D real-time depth perception in subsurface structures in the body.
Max holds voluntary outreach positions as a mentor and ambassador for the Arkwright scholarship scheme, encouraging young students to pursue engineering as a future career path.
