BIO

Matei is a PhD candidate in the SETTL group led by Professor Ricardo Martinez-Botas at Imperial College London. He is a driven graduate researcher with a keen interest in thermal management through the use of innovative computational tools like generative design. Having completed an MEng degree at Imperial College London in 2022, he distinguished as a Dean’s List student and has graduated with a thesis on 'Adaptable turbine design assisted by Machine Learning Fluid Mechanics'.

While working at Rimac Technology as a Simulations and Modelling engineer, he developed an acute interest in thermal management for high-performance applications. With a passion for applied mathematics and science, Matei is keen to find connections between areas like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and computer science. His academic journey has been marked by curiosity and commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology, particularly in the context of sustainable energy solutions.
