BIO

Michele Trevisson is a postdoctoral researcher in experimental fluid dynamics in the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College London. His research focuses on understanding the fundamental physical processes governing environmental flows, with particular emphasis on the role of turbulence in river morphodynamics, mass transport in flows over living roughness, and cloud physics.

His interests span a wide range of topics, from the mechanisms driving fine-sediment transport in coarse-grained river beds to the formation of fine-sediment ribbons—longitudinal bedforms that arise from interactions with secondary flows and very-large-scale motions. He also investigates how living roughness, such as gravel beds, vegetation, forests, and urban environments, influences momentum and mass transfer.

In his current position, he studies how turbulence affects the formation of raindrops and the mechanisms of turbulent entrainment at cloud boundaries, as part of an ERC-funded project led by Professor Buxton.

He specializes in the development of physical models in the lab to investigate environmental flows at the smallest scales, combining advanced measurement techniques such as Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV), Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF), and stereo photogrammetry.
