Mia supports the Imperial Policy Forum's policy and engagement programmes across a portfolio including AI, technology and innovation.
Mia joined Imperial in 2026, after spending several years working as a responsible technology consultant in London, where she led policy and research projects across AI governance, online safety and digital rights.
Prior to that, she worked at the Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, where she coordinated research programmes focused on freedom of speech and press in the digital age. Mia supported research initiatives like 'Algorithmic Amplification and Society' and 'The Future of Press Freedom: Democracy, Law and the News in Changing Times,' while coordinating Columbia's inaugural conference on AI and democracy, Generative AI, Free Speech and Public Discourse Symposium.
Her experience spans government, think tanks, universities, legal organisations and NGOs, with time also spent at the Council on Foreign Relations, U.S. Department of State and Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press. She has been published by the Council on Foreign Relations and has contributed to the Cambridge University Press volume, The Future of Press Freedom,
Mia regularly speaks on AI and technology issues, and recently spoke at Geneva Peace Week on AI in peacemaking, London Climate Action Week on AI's role in the green transition and at Oxford University on technology and journalism. Mia also co-leads Women in AI Safety and Ethics (WISE), a cross-disciplinary, global community of 1,000+ women working toward a safe AI future.
Mia holds an MSc in the Social Science of the Internet from the Oxford Internet Institute, where she was named a Shirley Scholar for her research on the evolving regulatory nature of social media platforms as public spaces. She also holds an MA in Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California, with a concentration on global media and technology.
