DrMaria Prendecki

I am an MRC Clinician Scientist Fellow and honorary consultant nephrologist at Imperial College London. My research focuses on understanding the role of neutrophils in immune-mediated kidney disease, particularly ANCA-associated vasculitis. 

My MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship investigates neutrophil heterogeneity in ANCA-associated vasculitis, with a particular interest in how differences in neutrophil phenotype and function contribute to inflammation and kidney injury. We use patient samples alongside experimental models to understand neutrophil biology and identify mechanisms that could inform new approaches to treatment.

My wider research interests include innate immune mechanisms in glomerulonephritis and vasculitis, immune cell biomechanics, and the development of new therapeutic approaches for immune-mediated kidney disease.
