BIO
Dr Marieke Peuscher is a Senior Teaching Fellow in Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine. She teaches in the BSc Medical Biosciences course, where she is Deputy Module Lead and research project supervisor in the Year 2 Lab Pod module. In addition, she teaches in the Cancer Biology module and is Module co-Lead for Stem Cells and Reproductive Biology. Dr Peuscher has contributed to Imperial's Global Summer School, lecturing on Cancer Immunotherapy.
From 2021 until 2023 Dr Peuscher was Recruitment, Training and Management Lead for the Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) programme. In this role she delivered recruitment, training and supervision of Imperial PhD students for teaching positions within the BSc Medical Biosciences.
Prior to joining Imperial College Dr Peuscher was a Dutch Cancer Society Research Fellow at the Francis Crick Institute in London. She specialises in molecular oncology, with a particular focus on DNA damage and repair mechanisms. As an independent research associate she studied the role of the BRCA2 and PALB2 tumour suppressor genes in homologous recombination and cancer development.
Since 2019 Dr Peuscher has collaborated with TReND in Africa, and was a guest Lecturer in Molecular Biology at the Federal University of Technology Akure in Nigeria. The course she designed and organised was awarded funding from The Physiological Society and L'Oreal's Women in Science Programme.
Dr Peuscher holds a PhD in Molecular Oncology from the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands Cancer Institute/NKI) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
