BIO

Ludovic Renson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London, where he leads the Nonlinear Dynamics & Control research group. He earned his PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Liège (Belgium) in 2014, before moving to the University of Bristol as a postdoctoral researcher, where he held Marie Skłodowska-Curie and Royal Academy of Engineering research fellowships. Ludovic joined Imperial in 2019.

Ludovic’s research focuses on nonlinear vibrations in engineered structures, encompassing the development of computational methods (nonlinear modelling, nonlinear modes, bifurcation analysis, optimisation), nonlinear system identification (physics-guided machine learning), and control-based experimental techniques (experimental continuation). He is part of the Vibration University Technology Centre (VUTC) supported by Rolls-Royce, where he leads the development of software for nonlinear vibration analysis in aeroengines.
