BIO

Dr Lina Johansson qualified as a dietitian from Kings College London in 1999 and has worked in the NHS for several years, specialising in nutrition in renal disease.

In 2012, she obtained her PhD at Imperial College London which focused on the choice of dialysis modality in older people, encompassing psycho-social and nutritional aspects.

Lina's clinical and research interests lie in improving the quality of life in people with kidney disease through diet. Her Post Doctoral Clinical Lectureship funded by the NIHR focused on the role of diet in improving outcomes in older people with moderate to advanced kidney disease. In 2018, Lina together with a team of experts have obtained a grant from the British Renal Society to co-design an education programme with patients to support living and well-being with a kidney transplant. More recently her research has focused on understanding the experiences of older people with a kidney transplant. Her current interests include health literacy and how we can support people to live better with their kidney condition as well as contributing to community based research.

Lina has supervised several Masters students' dissertations as well as supporting dietitians applying for pre-doctoral and doctoral fellowships.
