DrLivia Cupertino Malheiros

I have completed research projects across both academia (Imperial College London, La Rochelle University, UFMG, University of Manchester) and industry (Vallourec, ArcelorMittal, VALE S.A.), including my PhD (2017-2020) in the fields of hydrogen-assisted cracking, structural characterisation and mechanical behaviour of alloys.

Following my PhD, I worked as an R&D engineer at Vallourec (2020-2022) on the development of alloy concepts and corrosion tests, and as a postdoc (2022-2023), improving electrochemical protocols to enable the prediction of hydrogen absorption in alloys for a given aggressive environment.

Since my academic appointment in late 2023, I have been working to build my research group, Metals Degradation and Sustainability, which currently comprises 1 postdoc, 4 PhD and several MSc and UROP students, and focuses primarily on hydrogen embrittlement, corrosion, oxidation and plasticity of alloys.
