RESEARCH

Educational Research
Laura completed an MEd in University Learning and Teaching, conducting ongoing research on the impact of active learning on neurodiverse students.

She is particularly interested in the impact of active learning on student's self-efficacy and if additional cognitive load relating to neurodivergence effects the learning experience.

Alongside this research, Laura has developed the Imperial College Autism and Uni website; an online toolkit that supports students on the autism spectrum as they handle the challenges of university.

Scientific Research
Laura comes from a background in telomere biology, conducting research into the role of the shelterin complex in telomere protection and in the genetic screening of families with telomere syndromes in order to identify disease-causing mutations. Recent work has explored the relationship between telomere length, ethnicity and cardiovascular disease. She has a number of publications in this field, including two textbook chapters.
