ProfessorLesley Cohen

My research interests include the study of magnetic materials (for solid state magnetic cooling using magnetocalorics or pressure cooling known as barocalorics), highly spin polarised magnetic materials (for spintronics and long range spin triplet superconductivity) and antiferromagnetic nitride thin films. Over the years I have also had an interest in transport properties of high mobility materials such as narrow gap semiconductors and graphene, superconductors (in particular gap structure and vortex pinning), and Raman spectroscopy (surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy as a tool to understand Fuel Cell materials). I have published over 450 journal publications in related topics and my h index is currently 51.

I work closely with a number of other academics at Imperial College as well as strong links to a number of other UK Universities namely Cambridge, Glasgow, Lancaster, Liverpool and Oxford. The group is also well connected to international groups in Europe, the USA, Brazil and India.

I currently co-supervise a number of PhD students including Matthew Hamer (CASE award with the National Physical Laboratory on non contact graphene sensors) and Aisling Hussey at Trinity College Dublin (oxide memristors).
