DrLayla Bolton Saghdaoui

Dr Bolton Saghdaoui is an accomplished researcher with a strong passion for improving patient outcomes in the field of chronic wound management. She began her research career within Imperial College London’s Vascular Research Department, where she contributed to studies exploring venous leg ulceration and the management of complex wounds. This experience provided her with valuable insight into the significant physical, psychological, and social impact that chronic wounds can have on patients’ lives.

Motivated by this experience, Layla pursued further research opportunities, securing Pre-Doctoral fellowships through both the NIHR ICA Fellowship Programme and Imperial Health Charity. These fellowships enabled her to broaden her research expertise and develop skills across a range of disciplines, including qualitative research, behavioural science, implementation science, public health, epidemiology, and tissue viability. 

Building on this foundation, Layla was awarded an NIHR Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship. During her fellowship, she successfully completed her PhD, which explored access to clinical services, pathways of care and pain management for patients living with chronic wounds. Through her research, Layla has developed a multidisciplinary understanding of chronic wound care and has a strong commitment to translating research into improvements in patient experience and outcomes.

Clinically, Layla brings over a decade of experience working within vascular surgery, where she has developed extensive expertise across clinical research delivery, tissue viability, and specialist vascular nursing. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with patients living with complex vascular and chronic wound conditions, combining specialist clinical knowledge with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence based, person-centred care.
