My research focuses on the fault ride-through capabilities of inverter-based resources (IBRs) and their impact on the performance of distance protection relays in transmission systems. I aim to address challenges arising from the non-linear fault response of IBRs, reduced short-circuit levels, and dynamic grid conditions. By developing adaptive protection strategies and improving relay performance, my work seeks to enhance system reliability and ensure secure operation in IBR-dominated grids, contributing to the transition toward a net-zero energy system.
