DrChi Him Kendrick Yiu

I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the National Heart and Lung Institute (NHLI), Imperial College London, working under the supervision of Dr Christopher Rhodes. My current research focuses on pulmonary hypertension, investigating the convergence of TGFβ and SOX17 signalling to identify novel therapeutic opportunities.

I completed my DPhil in Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Dr Svetlana Reilly, where my doctoral research investigated the heterogeneity of cardiac fibroblasts in the human atria and the role of the transcription factor NR4A1 in cardiac fibrosis and atrial fibrillation. My work integrated human primary cells with multi-omics approaches (RNA-seq, proteomics). I also worked on miRNA studies, biomarker discovery, and clinical data analysis relevant to atrial fibrillation.

I am also a member of the NHLI Postdoc and Fellows Committee, where I help represent the interests and wellbeing of early career researchers within the department and contribute to initiatives that support career development and community building.
