BIO
Dr Kevin Walsh is an Honorary Research Fellow in the Section for Nutrition Research at Imperial College London, alongside his main role as Lecturer in Nutrition & Dietetics Education at King's College London. He is a HCPC-registered dietitian with research interests in severe nutrition-related conditions in children in LMICs (chiefly severe anaemia and severe acute malnutrition).
His research examines the role of nutrition and diet in recovery from acute illness in children, mainly through dietary assessment, metabolic profiling using 1H NMR spectroscopy and gut microbial profiling. He works on the nutrition sub-study of the large TRACT transfusion trial evaluating the role of diet in recovery from severe anaemia, and on the MIMBLE series of randomised controlled trials evaluating the use of legume-enriched therapeutic feeds to support the gut microbiota and recovery in severe acute malnutrition.
