TEACHING INTERESTS

Aerodynamics 1-AERO40001

Aims: Aerodynamics is one of the core pillars of aerospace engineering. This course will introduce aerodynamic essentials such as the basic laws of motion for incompressible fluid flow, conservation of mass and momentum and the role of viscosity. Control volume analysis will form the basis for work in following years and is used to explain aerodynamic phenomena such as generation of lift, drag and boundary layers.

Aerodynamics 3 - AERO60001

 

Aims: This module covers both compressible and incompressible aerodynamics relevant to aerospace vehicle design. The module builds on the Aerodynamics 1 and 2 modules. Topics covered include the derivation of the Reynolds-Averaged Navier Stokes equation, treatment of boundary layers, finite aspect ratio wing effects, effects of friction and heat transfer on compressible flow and the two-dimensional method of characteristics for compressible flows.
