BIO

Dr Kenny Malpartida-Cardenas graduated in Biomedical Engineering from Universidad Carlos III in 2016, and holds a 1st Class Honours MRes in Nanomaterials from Imperial College London (2017). She completed her PhD at Imperial College London in 2022 on molecular diagnostics under the guidance of Prof Pantelis Georgiou and Dr Jesus Rodriguez Manzano. She was awarded an EPSRC Doctoral Prize fellowship in 2022, and an Imperial College Research Fellowship in 2023 to continue with her research vision.

Her research focuses on developing paper-based methods for molecular diagnostics, enhancing the efficiency of isothermal chemistries, and translating these technologies into integrated point-of-care systems. Her vision is to combine the accuracy of molecular methods with the accessibility of rapid tests to provide affordable, accurate, non-invasive diagnostic solutions for infectious diseases and women’s reproductive healthcare.
