BIO
I'm a Careers Consultant within our small central team at the Imperial Careers Service. I take responsibility for supporting our Thrive students alongside working closely with the School of Medicine, focusing on our MBBS students and the postgraduate medicine students. I’m also involved in supporting all departments to help train students on transferable skills, like teamworking, time management and communication. This side of my role gets me involved in many projects across college including the Imperial Award, where I'm part of the vision committee and the Imperial Success guide. I also sit on two national groups, one within medical careers and the other focusing on postgraduate taught programmes.
I'm the co-author of and subject specialist in the Attributes and Aspirations short course team. This course we developed for master’s students to support them in learning transferable and career related skills and we're currently writing versions for both PhD and undergraduate students. This raised my interest in educational research and I'm currently studying for the Masters of University Learning and Teaching to add to the Master of Career Development degree I already hold.
When I’m not being consumed by careers stuff (which I am a lot. I’ve even written my own careers model - visit my research overview for more information), I enjoy supporting the All Blacks rugby team (I’m a New Zealander), relaxing with mates and hanging out with my grumpy, old, deaf cat, Blake.
