BIO
Jia Guo is currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Research Fellow at Imperial College London. He obtained his PhD from Aalborg University, Denmark, in 2024, with a research focus on battery degradation mechanisms. His doctoral research received two awards in 2025: the gold medal of PhD Prize from the Danish Academy of Natural Sciences, and the DanScatt Best PhD Thesis Prize in recognition of his research using X-ray and neutron scattering techniques for battery degradation.
After completing his PhD, he conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London and subsequently in Berlin, supported by his independently awarded DFF International Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Independent Research Fund Denmark. In 2026, he returned to Imperial College London to begin his Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral research.
His current research focuses on understanding degradation mechanisms in batteries under practical operating conditions. By combining battery ageing experiments, synchrotron-based operando characterization, and modelling, he aims to uncover the electrochemical, structural, and interfacial processes that govern battery degradation and lifetime.
