DrJesus Urtasun

I studied the BSc. degree in Physics at the University of Barcelona (2017), and then the MSc. in High Energy Physics and Cosmology at the IFAE of Barcelona (2018). I completed my Ph.D in Theoretical and Computational Physics at the University of Milan (2022), working in Higgs boson physics and Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), building precise theoretical calculations for the high precision era of the LHC at CERN.

I joined the MRC LMS Bioinformatics in 2022. Since then I specialised in algorithmics, statistical inference, hypothesis testing, data analysis and visualisation. Within the field of computational biology, I currently work with genomics data and NGS, together with HPC and cluster computing. Since 2022 I hold a part-time teaching position at Imperial College London, within the Research Computing and Data Science (RCDS) department.

I currently teach introduction to probability and statistical inference, together with basics of programming and C++. My interests broad from theoretical physics, quantum mechanics, gravity and cosmology, to computation and philosophy of science.
