DrJessica Williams

Jessica is a conservation biologist with a particular interest in studying how biodiversity is responding to local and global drivers of change, and how this impacts nature’s contributions to people. Over the course of her fellowship, she will be exploring Anthropocene landscape permeability for species key to human health and well-being (in particular, species impacting food system sustainability and zoonotic disease risk). Beyond this Jessica is interested in the uses of novel AI-assisted monitoring technologies for conservation, and how we can promote the ethical and equitable use of AI.

Beyond her fellowship, Jessica is also a Sustainability Champion at Silwood Park and a Fellows Rep for the Department of Life Sciences. As part of her Reps role, she has also joined the Early Career Researcher Institute Committee and the Department of Life Sciences EDI Committee.

Outside of Imperial, Jessica is the Chair of the British Ecological Society Conservation Ecology Special Interest Group, and a Communications Officer for the Landscape Ecology UK committee (the UK chapter of the International Association for Landscape Ecology). Jessica is also passionate about outreach, and is a STEM Ambassador, Climate Ambassador, and a mentor for Brightside Online Mentoring.
