DrJacob Lee

Jacob Lee is the Teaching Facilities Manager for the Faculty Education Office within the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London.

Since July 2024, he has led the management and strategic oversight of teaching facilities across six campuses, encompassing laboratories, teaching spaces, audiovisual services and associated assets. He also works closely with NHS Trust partners across seven hospital sites to support undergraduate medical student placements. In this role, Jacob manages multidisciplinary teams and collaborates with colleagues across Estates, ICT, Safety, academic departments, education teams and student groups to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality teaching environments and services.

Jacob joined Imperial in 2015 as a Laboratory Manager and Safety Coordinator, subsequently holding a range of specialist operational and safety leadership roles, including Containment Level 3 (CL3) Facility Manager, Radiation Protection Supervisor and Departmental Laser Safety Officer. He has extensive experience in research and teaching infrastructure, project delivery, facilities management, health and safety, procurement, operational resilience and stakeholder engagement.

Between 2020 and 2021, Jacob was seconded as Manager for the Centre for Antimicrobial Optimisation (CAMO), where he supported the establishment of a new research centre funded by the Department of Health and Social Care. Working with Professor Alison Holmes OBE and collaborators across Imperial and the NHS, he coordinated the delivery of new research facilities and supported the centre’s operational development.

Jacob holds an MSc in Tissue Engineering and a PhD in stem cell research in mineralised tissues, building on an earlier background in microbiology. Prior to joining Imperial, he worked within a multi-site cancer biorepository in Wales, supporting translational research in partnership with NHS histopathology services.
