DrJack Hayes

Jack is a PhD student in the Biotribology Group at Imperial College London. Jack joined the group in October 2020 and he is supervised by Dr Marc Masen, Dr Claire Higgins and Dr Peter Worsley. Jack is part of the EPSRC funded CDT in Prosthetics and Orthotics and his project looks into understanding Biomechanics of the skin-prosthetics interface. He aims to use numerical and experimental methods to reduce the prevalence of skin injuries in the lower limb amputee community. This approach will utilise methods and approaches from soft tribology and tissue engineering to tackle the issue

Jack received his MEng in Civil Engineering from the University of Liverpool, his studies consisted of finite element analysis and life cycle analysis and sustainability. For completion of his dissertation Jack investigated the use implants to correct refractive error by conducting a numerical study of implant parameters, using finite element analysis. This work was supervised by Professor Ahmed Elsheikh and Dr Ashkan Eliasy. Jack also holds a committee position on the IET branch of biomedical engineering.
