BIO
My PhD research focuses on interactions between organic molecules, gases, and rock surfaces in a planetary context. The outcomes have applications to understanding the origins and distribution of organics in the Solar System, including in asteroids, planetary interiors, and atmospheres. I am particularly interested in understanding how organic molecules delivered to the lunar surface during exploration missions may be transported and altered at the surface, with implications for organic contamination. Additionally, my research has applications to understanding the origin and extent of hydrocarbon gas in the Martian atmosphere and subsurface, with applications to astrobiology.
In addition to my PhD research, I lead a team in the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC) investigating future risks emerging in the space sector and what we might be able to do now to prevent them and steer humanity towards a flourishing long-term future on Earth and in space. The project is called "Cosmic Futures" and is part of the SGAC Space Safety and Sustainability project group. I am also a partnerships coordinator for this project group and have worked on many projects related to the value of space activities for challenges on Earth, such as climate change and natural disaster management, presented at UNOOSA and the IAC.
