DrJacob Stapley

I am a Postdoctoral Researcher at the PETAL Lab, University of California, Berkeley (supervised by Dr. Charlie Whittaker), and a Visiting Researcher at the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis, Imperial College London.

My recent EDCTP-funded postdoctoral work at Imperial focused on modelling the efficacy of moxidectin to reduce onchocerciasis incidence and prevalence in line with WHO elimination goals.

I completed my PhD at Imperial under the supervision of Prof. Maria-Gloria Basáñez, using the stochastic individual-based EPIONCHO-IBM model, data analysis, and fieldwork to improve understanding of transmission at low incidence levels and to broaden the sequelae considered in disease modelling.

Before my PhD, I completed an MBio in Biomedical Science at the University of Warwick (including a placement year in medical affairs at GSK) and an MRes in Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial.
