MsJuliane Schittek

Juliane Schittek is a PhD candidate in Organizational Behavior at the Imperial College Business School. Juliane studies how individuals perceive and engage with one another across social identity groups and within organizations, and when and how these (inter)actions challenge the status quo and foster more inclusive and effective organizations. To capture these dynamic interpersonal processes as they unfold in everyday life, Juliane relies on naturalistic data collection methods including large-scale ecological momentary assessment, round-robin field surveys, and conversation analysis of real-life team meetings. 

Her research spans three interconnected streams. The first stream adopts an intersectional lens to examine how status and power differentials between groups shape cross-group interactions in everyday life. The second investigates how one group of particularly consequential interpersonal behaviors—allyship—can create change and more inclusive environments. The third explores how individuals exercise voice within organizations and what leaders can do to elicit genuine challenge.

Prior to her PhD, Juliane obtained her MSc in International Management from Bocconi University in Italy and Fudan University in China. She further holds a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Cologne, Germany. In addition to her studies, she has extensive international professional experience in China, Germany and the United Kingdom.
