BIO

I am one of the careers consultants in the central careers team here at Imperial College. I work closely with the departments of Physics and Electrical and Electronic Engineering, as well as maintaining an interest in career paths for the students on the Science Communications programme.

I have a longstanding interest in supporting students and graduates from "non-traditional" or "widening participation" backgrounds - this covers things like being in the first generation in your family to come to university, being care-experienced, or coming from a less advantaged area (among other things!).

I also think it's important we develop our online offer for students and graduates who might not always be able to come to level 5 of the Sherfield Building, so I'm working on a project with colleagues to improve our digital offer for students and graduates too.

My background has included lots of different things - I've worked in HR and Recruitment for the NHS and City of York Council, repaired books for an academic library, supported visa and compliance advice for international students, and hosted homeless young people in the spare room of my house for a charity called SASH York.

I am also a published author and have qualifications in English Literature, Creative Writing and Careers Education. Outside of my work here at Imperial, I write ghost stories and modern horror novels.
